Scrabble Anagram Solver

A true anagram of LISTEN is SILENT: same letters, all of them, in a different order. A subword search on LISTEN also returns TINSEL, ENLIST, INLETS, TILES, LINES, LENS and dozens more. Scrabble players want subwords, puzzle setters want true anagrams, and the tool does both.

RETINAS gives the classic stem family: RETAINS, RETINAS, NASTIER, ANTSIER, STAINER and RATINES — six seven-letter words from one rack, which is why RETINA is the stem worth memorising first.

CARETS is another: CARETS, CASTER, CRATES, REACTS, RECAST and TRACES. Recognising that a rack belongs to a known family is faster than solving it letter by letter.

Cover the screen, give yourself sixty seconds on a rack, write down what you find, then reveal the list. The words you missed twice are the ones to drill. The practice game in WordCue automates exactly this loop.

Add ? for a wildcard letter to model a blank tile, and use the contains filter when one letter must appear because it is already on the board. Combining a wildcard with a length filter answers the common question: what seven-letter word can I make with these six tiles plus any one letter?

WordCue searches a bundled open English word list of more than 350,000 entries. It is deliberately broad, so it contains words that a tournament lexicon such as TWL or SOWPODS may not accept. Treat unusual finds as candidates and check them against whichever dictionary your game uses before you challenge or play them.

Scores shown next to each word use the standard Scrabble tile values, with no board multipliers applied. Add your own double and triple letter or word squares on top — the score calculator does that part for you.
